Scenario: One of the customer has mentioned his search does not work in Microsft Outlook our OWA. In fact the search gives no result on both emails and in calendar. I checked the server and did not find any issue. I have tried to recreate a new profile and still the problem existed.
Step1: Stop Exchange Search Service and Search Host Controller
Step2: go to the directory where Exchagne is installed and find the Database folder . In my case this was at D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0192833844
Step3: You will find a folder with long file name and Rename the folder.
Step4: Now restart both services and exchange server will start building the search
You can view the progress of the process by using the command in Powershell.
Note: Allow at least an hour to complete the process and search should work after that.
